Vijay Kaavalan Release Date

Vijay Kaavalan Release Date

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s much expected movie Kaavalan release date has been delayed. Kaavalan will not release for this Diwali and it is likely to be a Christmas release.
Kaavalan is Vijay’s 51st film and it is remake of Malayalam hit Bodyguard and nearly 80 percent of the film is complete. Kaavalan features Vijay and Asin lead roles and it is being directed by Siddique.
Vijay’s comedy scenes with Asin and Vadivelu are said to be come well and it is sure to bring the house down. Siddique has earlier given Vijay a megahit through Friends.

             Jayalalitha blesses Ajith and Vijay

AIADMK J JayalalithaNot often one gets to see the bigwigs of Kollywood’s entertainment industry wishing ex-chief minister J. Jayalalithaa and seeking her blessings in return.  This has often happened in case of Kalaignar, though.  Probably an indication of things to be expected at the State Assembly elections scheduled for next summer, this occurred recently.

Filmstars have mostly avoided participating in the function or event which featured J. Jayalalithaa, the AIADMK supremo, who is believed by many on the comeback trail in the political waters of Tamil Nadu.  The trend, however, appears to be changing as leading stars paid obeisance to her at a recent marriage ceremony, not dissimilar to the way her party activists usually do!

The marriage reception of the son of Saidai Duraisamy, Secretary of the South Chennai District of AIADMK, took place on Saturday.  Jayalalithaa, who graced the occasion by her expected presence, blessed leading stars Ajit and Vijay who first wished her as a mark of respect.
Ajith-Vijay
Jaya had reportedly traveled all the way from Kodanadu to take part in the marriage reception ceremony, held on the sprawling lawns of the YMCA grounds at Nandanam.  MDMK’s Vaiko, PMK’s Dr. Ramadoss and BJP’s L. Ganesan and many other political stalwarts took part in the event.  Ajit, who had come along with his actress wife Shalini, went to Jayalalithaa and paid obeisance to her with his wife in tow.

Ajit then spent some time talking to the AIADMK chief.  Vijay, who had also come to attend the function, was only spotted by Jaya as she was getting into her car.  She then beckoned to him and spoke to him for a few moments, blessed him and left the venue.

   Sun Pictures to

acquire ‘Kaavalan’ against Vijay’s wish?

It was reported in some sections of the press some weeks ago that producer-director Shakti Chidambaram had acquired the distribution and release rights of the Vijay-Asin starrer ‘Kaavalan’ at a whopping Rs.40 crores.  Not many were aware that Shakti had done so and the news, which appeared in a leading daily, has now stirred a Pandora’s Box!
Sun Pictures to acquire ‘Kaavalan’
Shakti had earlier taken a loan of Rs.50 lakhs from a nationalized bank to make his ‘Guru Sishyan’.  When the Bank came across the news item, they called Shakti over and gave him a verbal ‘dressing down’ as to why wasn’t he repaying the loan when he could acquire a film’s rights at an amount which is more than thirty times the loan amount.

In order to avoid the consistent pressured being applied on him by the Bank to repay the loan he had taken in making ‘Guru Sishyan’.  Making full use of his plight, Sun Pictures has moved in for the kill and is said to be demanding Shakti that he sell off the distribution and release rights of ‘Kaavalan’ to them.

Still to forget the ‘bitter’ experience when Sun Pictures released his ‘Vettaikaran’, Vijay is reportedly against selling the rights to Sun Pictures.  It is, however, believed that Sun Pictures might have the final laugh in the matter!

Salman Khan – Kareena Kapoor in ‘Kaavalan’ Remake

It looks like Salman Khan is more inspired by Vijay’s pattern of films. He witnessed absolute success with ‘Pokkiri’ remake titled ‘Wanted’. In fact, these films happened to be a great milestone in their career. Similarly, Salman Khan imitated a lot of Vijay’s gestures in his recent release ‘Dabangg’ and again basked into glory of success.
Salman Khan Kareena Kapoor in Kaavalan RemakeNow, the actor will be a part of ‘Kaavalan’ remake in Hindi titled as ‘My Love Story’. The film will be directed by Siddique (maker of original version of ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Kaavalan’) and produced by Atul Agnihotri.
Right now, the actor is shooting in remake of Telugu movie ‘Ready’, which is being remade in Tamil as ‘Utthamaputhiran’.
Katrina Kaif was first approached by producer to pair with Salman Khan and is now replaced by Kareena Kapoor. Previously Sallu and Bebo had paired in couple of Hindi films KYON KI (2005) and MAIN AURR MRS KHANNA (2009) and both of them were flops.

Shankar’s answer to ‘3 Idiots’

It’s a longtime buzz that Shankar, who is eagerly waiting for the release of ‘Enthiran’, will start working on the Tamil and Telugu remakes of ‘3 Idiots’ once the Superstar Rajinikanth starrer hit the screens.
When Shankar was approached to confirm the news, he said that he was in talks for the project. “I can’t speak anything about the project since I am too busy with the release of Enthiran,” he said.

Kavalan Preview
Kavalan - Praying for rescue acts
‘Kavalan’ is the forthcoming movie of Vijay which has a lot of things at stake. It is the 51st film of Vijay. After a fairly long poor run at the box office Vijay is expecting a lot out of this film. The heroine Asin is also praying for acceptance after her escapades in Sri Lanka has not gone down well with the Tamil community across the world.
‘Kavalan’ is the remake of the Malayalam film ‘Bodyguard’ and has nothing to do with the Kevin Costner film. The film was announced first with the title ‘Kaaval Karan’ and when Sathya Movies, the producer of the MGR super hit objected the title was changed to ‘Kaaval Kadhal’. But the changed title was not liked by Vijay fans and finally the film got the name ‘Kavalan’.
The film is about the strange fascination of a guy who worships anyone with a trace of heroism. He one comes across a reformed liquor mogul and now leading businessman and finds him to be his hero. He then joins him as the bodyguard to protect his beautiful daughter.
The body guard and the beautiful daughter fall in love without knowing to each other and later separate without wanting to. What happened to their love and after is the story. The first half is expected to be a hilarious entertainer while the story tales a serious turn in the second half and the climax will be a shocker.
In the original version the lead characters were played by Dileep, Nayantara, Mithra Kurian and Thiyagarajan. In Tamil the roles are played by Vijay, Asin, Mithra Kurian and Raj Kiran. Vadivelu is for comedy and Roja returns playing the wife of Raj Kiran. In fact Asin was first approached even for the Malayalam film. As she was busy with her Bollywood assignment Nayantara stepped in.
Livingston. MS Baskar, Delhi Ganesh, Nizhalgal Ravi are also in the cast. Music director is Vidyasagar and the film has six songs. Cinematography N K Ekambaram and Editing is by Gowri Shankar. The film is being made at a cost or Rs. 38 crores according to sources.
The Malayalam original was released in January this year and the Tamil version was up and going from April onwards. The first schedule happened in Kumbakonam. The whole movie was shot in places like Karaikudi, Kumbakonam and Vellore. Overseas shootings were done in Malaysia, Bangkok and Europe. This will be the second film in the combination of Siddique and Vijay. The first one was the ‘Friends’. Vijay and Asin come together after ‘Sivakasi’ and ‘Pokkiri’. All these combination films have been block busters and so the hype is already there.
But the film was in news for most times for reasons which were not production related. First then were precarious confusions over title. Then a controversy broke over the Tamil remake rights of the Malayalam film.
One Johnny Sagarikaa, a producer who had earlier obtained the remake rights of ‘Bodyguard’ in Tamil and other languages, reportedly mortgaged the remake rights to Gokulam Chit Funds for a financial loan. After knowing the Siddique is remaking his film in Tamil Johnny approached the Nadigar Sangam and the case in with them.
Then during the shooting in Karaikudi, Asin reportedly fainted allegedly due to a strange gas leak inside her caravan. Later they said it was due to a fault in the air-conditioner.
But the biggest controversy that is even threatening the release and then survival of the film was that Asin’s visit to Sri Lanka. When all the industry associations like TFPC, FEFSI, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners and Distributors associations and SIFCC had requested the Indian film industry to boycott Sri Lanka for business as the country is standing trial for genocide of Tamils and human rights violations. But Asin went ahead and shot for her Hindi film with Salman Khan. She said she is under the contract of the producer and she has no power in deciding shooting locations.
Had she quietly done the shooting and come back things wouldn’t have gone this bad. Asin stayed back in Sri Lanka even after the shooting and travelled to places which were devastated by war, and banned for most of the world media and NGOs in with President Mahinda Rajapaksha’s wife Shiranthi and behaved like a government sponsored ambassador. This has angered the SIFCC and they have called for a ban of ‘Kavalan’ and subsequently on Asin.
Another recent development is that the producer-director Shakthi Chidambaram has acquired the film. When the distributors of Vijay’s earlier films have refused to back up ‘Kavalan’ and are demanding hefty compensation from Vijay saying his recent movies has put them in debt trap, the move of Shakthi Chidambaram is being considered a bold act by many. ‘Kavalan’ is produced by C Ramesh Babu under the banner of Eka Veera Creations.
‘Kavalan’ is all set to redefine the fate of almost all the people related to it. When the film releases in December many provoking questions would have found answers.
Asin signs two more Hindi films

Asin is making her presence felt in Kollywood as well as Bollywood. The actress from Kerala, who is currently acting with Vijay in ‘Kavalan’, has signed two new Bollywood projects, which would take off soon.
“Yes, I have been roped in for two more Hindi movies for which shooting would commence in early 2011. Both are with hot and happening stars of the industry. Sorry, I can’t reveal anything more”, says the ‘Ghajini’ actress.
In the meantime, Asin has been signed by a popular soap brand, which would normally choose top actresses as its brand ambassadors. “I guess I have bagged the prestigious assignment thanks to my pan Indian appeal”, she feels.
Asin adds: “Having acted in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam movies, my face is well known to audiences in all these parts. But I would like to clarify that I don’t see any differences and I am proud to say I act in Indian film industry”.
 Vidyasagar back on track

After a break, Vidyasagar, who gave us some of the evergreen chartbusters, is back. He is currently scoring music for some promising projects, including Vijay’s ‘Kavalan’, Karthi’s ‘Siruthai’ and Pa Vijay starrer ‘Ilaignan’, scripted by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
For ‘Ilaignan’, the music composer worked with symphony musicians in Budapest and completed the final mixing and recording in London. “It was a different experience and my thanks go to the producer and director”, he says.
Vidyasagar is thrilled to know the Chief Minister’s reaction to his efforts. “He is a veteran who knows all trades of cinema. We would soon be playing the final version of the songs to him”, he says.
On ‘Kavalan’, Vidyasagar says, “The music is not typical stuff. Each number is different from the other. My music had a lot scope in the Vijay starrer which has a good dose of romance”.

Vijay & Seeman on the Process

Vijay has once again started hitting headlines: This time, with lots of freshness and assurance of success. The actor addressed the media channels about finalization of his film’s title as ‘Kaavalan’. It has been an unconfirmed buzz as the titles were randomly changed from ‘Kavalkaran’, ‘Kaval Kadhal’ and finally ‘Kaavalan’.

When asked about his other projects, Vijay said, “He has started shooting for ‘Velayudham’ and is now listening to the script of director Seeman.”
Vijay & Seeman on the Process
As the questions about Asin’s Sri Lankan issue was shot, his media manager immediately winded up the press meet saying that those issues can be discussed later in time.
Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’ was supposed to hit screens for Diwali and is now postponed to December.

SIDDIQUE ON TWEAKING BODYGUARD FOR VIJAY

Director Siddique, who had directed the Malayalam film Bodyguard with Dileep and Nayan in the lead roles, is remaking the film in Tamil under the title Kavalan. For the Tamil version he had roped in Vijay and Asin and the film is almost nearing completion.
Speaking about Kavalan, the director said that he had made adequate changes to the original script to ensure that the role befitted Vijay. Siddique pointed out that Vijay had a different target audience and hence certain changes to the script became inevitable.
Likewise, he added, Dileep will not fit in Vijay’s role in Kavalan. Both Bodyguard and Kavalan have been made for the respective actors he said.

As Vijay’s 51st movie Kaavalan is nearing completion, the producers seem to have decided to dispel the confusions involving its title. As a result, a ‘title introduction’ event was held this evening at the GRT Grand Days Hotel, Chennai. The event was attended by producer Ramesh Babu, Vadivelu, Vijay, Asin, cameraman Egambaram, director Siddique and financier Anbuchezhian. The event saw speeches from the movie’s cast and the director himself.

Vadivelu, who came first, had only praises for Siddique. “Although I have heard a lot of stories and acted in a number of movies, this film is special to me. I am sure this film will be a milestone in Vijay and Asin’s career,” he said. He also mentioned that there is nobody quite like Siddique when it comes to action comedy. “If he doesn’t find any part unconvincing, he will ask us to take a break and practice,” he added. He also requested Siddique to direct at least one movie in Tamil every year.

Asin, in her brief address, wanted Kaavalan, her 3rd film with Vijay, to be a hatrick. “I have always wanted to be part of a sweet, simple and clean love story. Having watched Siddiques films since I was a kid, this is like a dream come true for me to act in his film,” she said. Incidentally, this is also Asin’s 3rd film with Vadivelu.

Vijay delved into the title hullabaloo in his speech recalling the troubles the movie has had since its inception. “We wanted Kaavalkaran but couldn’t acquire the title. Before we named the movie, everybody was quoting Kaaval Kadhal and we finally settled with Kaavalan,” he said. He expressed thanks to Asin for having extracted time from Bollywood, after her 3 year break in Tamil movies, to be a part of Kaavalan.

Siddique was rather reticent in the evening and spoke only a few words, thanking the crew for their cooperation, requesting similar support in the future.

Vijay's Kaavalan due for December Release

Vijay's Kaavalan due for December Release
Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s fans were curiously awaiting for the release of his 51st film Kaavalan for the occasion of Diwali. Now it looks like the release of Kaavalan may be postponed to December.

The film is produced by C Ramesh Babu under the banner of Eka Veera Creations and is directed by Siddhique, who made the original version Bodyguard as well. The film was earlier titled Kaval Karan. It was later on changed as Kaaval Kadhal and finally it has been titled Kaavalan.

'Kaavalan' has Asin starring opposite Vijay in female lead role with famous actors Raj Kiran and Roja enacting her parent’s role. Vadivelu will take care of hilarious quotients (his role was performed by director Siddique himself in original version).

The film was shot in a period of 25 days at VIT College in Vellore amidst of 5000 students and the final schedule is being filmed at Kerala and European Countries. At first, Vijay had plans about completing this film and later kick-start his other project Velayudham. As the actor has signed couple of other films, which includes untitled sci-fi thriller with Vikram Kumar and Shankar’s remake of 3 Idiots, he has been simultaneously shooting for Kaavalan and Velayudham so as to commence the other projects by the beginning of 2011.

The unit is gearing up to release the film in December and if what we heard from closer sources is believed to be true, then producer-filmmaker Sakthi Chidambaram has acquired the rights of this film.
'Kavalan' Team Meets The Press

The first official press meet for the Vijay starrer ‘Kavalan’ happened yesterday. It was attended by Vijay, Asin and all other important members of the team.

‘Kavalan’ is an eagerly awaited film for many reasons. After the disastrous ‘Sura’ Vijay fans are praying for a super hit in ‘Kavalan’. Asin after all the could-have-been-avoided controversies related to her Srilankan visit is waiting to confirm her popularity among the Tamil audience.

Vijay said his combination with Asin in ‘Sivakasi’ and ‘Pokkiri’ was a hit and hoped even this will be a big one. Asin on her part included Vadivelu also in the hit combination list along with her.

The press meet keenly avoided questions on Asin’s camaraderie with the family of the Srilankan president.

Vijay, Asin, Vadivelu, Cameraman Ekambaram. Director Siddique and others can be seen talking about the film.
